Volunteer at a Wildlife Reserve (in Africa)

When I was little, I had the dream of owning a zoo. Unfortunately, that dream is very unreachable. However there are other options of working with other animals. One of the careers I want to pursue when I grow up is Veterinary medicine. Right now, I'm not sure if I'll actually follow true with that but I do know that at some point in my life I want to work close with animals.

Since I was born I have had many domestic animals, but I would LOVE to be able to get close with wild animals. I think this is one of the many reasons why I want to be a Veterinarian.

In order to actually become a Veterinarian, one must go to college for their typical 4 years. Then they must apply to veterinarian school and enroll in a DVM program and go to school for another 4 years. And that's only if you want to be a general practitioner. However, there's only 28 accredited veterinary schools in the U.S. so it's very competitive. Having experience with real animals makes you stand out from the crowd, and this is where this bucket list item comes into play. Some summer during college, I would like to go to Africa and volunteer at a wildlife reserve. Where lions are at! This would look great on my resume and would make a great impression on those vet schools ;)
